Peter Anker Nielsen, Senior Director Architecture & Development Tools

Welcome to our company and team

Oticon is one of the most attractive places to work for engineers, according to “Ingeniøren”. Such a high rating is always a combination of many factors, but if you ask our engineering colleagues, they will say that it’s largely because of a highly innovative work environment and uncompromising aim for technological quality. Would you like to become part of that?

There’s an open position in our Software Tools Development team. If you join us, you will work with a group of skilled full stack software developers, located both at the headquarter in Denmark and our site in Poland. We come from different backgrounds, but with SW Engineering as a common element. Characterizing us is the ambition to make high quality solutions and tools, that enable our colleagues in Demant to develop products across hardware, embedded and pc software platforms.

We work in an agile setup which means an iterative approach to design, development, code reviews, knowledge sharing, workshops and brainstorms. Every member of the team participates in each phase of software lifecycle: from stakeholder’s management to testing, release rollout and maintenance.

Your responsibilities and tasks

Here are some examples of the tasks you’ll meet:

  • Stakeholder management: collecting requirements and use cases.
  • Creating software designs and proof-of-concepts
  • Implementing features using best practices of object-oriented programming
  • (SOLID, etc.)
  • Conducting code reviews
  • Testing, test automation, unit tests and manual testing
  • Establishing and maintaining continuous integration setup for our tools
  • Participating in writing documentation, demos, rollouts, trainings in the use
  • of tools, etc.

Your background and experience

You hold a relevant degree within software engineering or computer science or in process of getting one. You may have recently graduated, or you may be an experienced developer – the most important aspects are to be interested in making good and maintainable solutions, have overall understanding of principles and approaches and be ready to learn new things.

We work with the .NET technology stack every day, so any relevant experience would be a positive factor.

  • .NET
  • Azure DevOps (for build pipelines, releases, etc)
  • Source control systems (e.g., GIT, TFS, Perforce)
  • Bug tracking and documentation systems (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Entity Framework
  • SQL
  • WPF
  • High code standards (unit tests, code reviews, StyleCop, documentation, etc.)
  • Agile setup (we’re using scrum): iterations, grooming, sprint plannings,
  • demos, retros, etc.

What characterizes you as a person

We hope you can recognize yourself in the following characteristics:

  • Structured, thorough, and analytical
  • Ambitious and want to do things the “right way”
  • Freely sharing your knowledge while developing ideas and conventions
  • A team player that thrives in a role requiring proactive dialog with our
  • stakeholders
  • Willing to develop your skills and competencies

In return we offer you the chance to be part of our team and develop solutions that ultimately benefits millions of people worldwide. Due to the size of the team and the size of the product portfolio you can expect big variability in tasks which means that you will learn different frameworks, approaches, and methods.

It's also worth to mention that we have a flexible work environment, so working from home once or twice a week is an option.

Our R&D organization at our headquarter welcomes +600 highly qualified engineering colleagues, so there is ample opportunity to let yourself be inspired and grow professionally and personally.

Application date: 6th August 2023.

If you have any questions for the position, feel free to write to Senior Director Architecture & Development Tools, Peter Anker Nielsen on petn@demant.com. Or Senior Product Owner, Evgeniia Melamud on evme@demant.com
